CHARACTERName: Pinkie Pie
Canon: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Age: Adult-ish? I imagine her somewhere in her twenties. No longer in school, employed, lives away from home.
Timeline: Post S4 finale
Personality: Pinkamina Dianne Pie is the element of Laughter. She radiates everything that is light and bubbly and joyful. Always chipper and ready to share a kind word, Pinkie always brings life to the party. Interacting with this pony is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get. You could find yourself subjected to a full-scale musical number complete with crowd participation or you could open your mailbox to find a friendly note just when you've started feeling a bit blue. Pinkie makes a point of knowing everypony's birthday and makes sure to personally greet them when they move to town. Pinkie takes it upon herself to make sure everypony feels welcome and knows that they are special and an individual and just so important! She even knows their favorite flavor of ice cream. It's honestly a little spooky.
After working hard on a bleak and lonely rock farm throughout her childhood, Pinkie knows how to truly appreciate a break in the clouds. She appreciates them so much that it's very rare that Pinkie actually puts on a serious face. She bounces with every step and can often be heard singing nonsense songs to herself. With her babbling and silly songs and main objective of fun fun fun, Pinkie comes off as spacey and childish, often adding non sequiturs to conversations or paying attention to something like a butterfly instead of the matter at-hoof. Sometimes she just stands around making noises. Pinkie is incredibly excitable. Every moment is precious and unique to her and she forgets that other ponies aren't quite as pumped about finding a not-
that-stale potato chip between the sofa cushions as she is and probably aren't going to appreciate a free taste. Though her primary setting is JOY, Pinkie can be incredibly emotional. She is easily moved to tears by beauty and acts of kindness. If she thinks you're hiding something from her, Pinkie will pursue you to the ends of the earth. She can become angry in a flash if her friends are threatened and
Celestia help you if you break a Pinkie Promise.
Pinkie means as well as a pony can, but sometimes the lengths she will go to for a smile can result in overkill. Pinkie might run herself completely ragged throwing parties or trying to cheer somepony up and forget about herself. Sleep? What's that? She's got some serious macaroni friendship cards to make here! Pinkie will even make herself the butt of jokes by dumping an entire bag of flour over her head to get a laugh. However she will never actually put herself down because that isn't fun for anypony! Occasionally she will become
so focused on throwing the biggest bestest bash in town that she can forget all about the pony she was trying to cheer up in the first place! She nearly ruined Rainbow Dash's Birthaversary this way and nearly quit party-throwing all together out of shame. The most important pony at the party
wasn't having fun! In the same vein, she can blow things out of proportion when giving praise, often building up the hardship that her friend has overcome or is going through that it causes them to relive it or collapse in dread.
This frustrates her friends and because of this she is often the last pony they go to for help. The Cakes tried to find a foalsitter by asking nearly everypony in town before resorting to Pinkie Pie. Hammy as she is, Pinkie is
far from being dumb. She is very clever and often one hoof ahead of her friends--such as letting Twilight think she was following Pinkie in secret for an entire day. She knew how to calmly stop the parasprite invasion with polka music. Even in the face of mortal danger, such as a changeling swarm invasion, being attacked by a horrifying four-headed hydra, or even going up against the legendary Nightmare Moon herself, Pinkie comes in all smiles with her party canon a-blazing. Pinkie is an Earth Pony, stout and tough by nature, and isn't shy at all about taking a tumble. When in a fight, she fights creatively rather than nastily. A good example is grabbing the nearest unicorn and turning her into a laser gun. She seems to exist in a world apart--a world of gumdrops and adventures and sees little point in being scared of anything (unless it's Nightmare Night where being scared is SUPER FUN!!!)
There is also a troubling side to Pinkie. Growing up on the rock farm meant that she lived far away from other ponies for most of her childhood and her own family was very old-fashioned and bland. This has left her hungry for the attention and approval of others. She struggles with her identity, always being the odd one out, and her zany antics only further her otherness in a self-damning way. In one instance where she was magically cloned, Pinkie reached a state of self-doubt so severe that she believed she was not the original Pinkie Pie. Another time she misunderstood her friends and wound up thinking that they no longer liked her or her parties and were trying to send her away. She retreated into an imaginary world and conjured up figures that validated her feelings and gave her companionship. The thought of being forgotten or replaced terrifies Pinkie to her sugary center. When she found out that she might be related to the Apple Family, Pinkie was ecstatic. She was so ready to be a part of something big and new and exciting. She needs to feel like she belongs in order to function.
Everypony has moments of doubt, but her friends and her role as the Element of Laughter keep her spirit strong.
Background: Wiki PageAbilities: The Pinkie Sense- This one is far more mysterious than the others. Pinkie seems to get 'feelings' in her body that tell her things about the near future. A twitch of the ear, an itch of the hoof, it might rain or a window might get broken or somepony might get a visit from their great aunt Dewshine. She doesn't know where this Pinkie Sense comes from and doesn't question it.
Baking- IT'S A PIECE OF CAKE TO BAKE A PRETTY CAKE!!!
Party Planning- Pinkie is very good at orchestrating social functions big and small! She is always on time and on point!
Clowning- Jokes, acrobatics, slapstick, she can do it all!
Music- Pinkie is incredibly musical! She can sing, dance, and play several instruments. All at the same time!
Exotic Reptile Care- Pinkie has the knowledge to properly (???) care for alligators.
Rock Cultivation- While it isn't her Special Talent, Pinkie grew up on a rock farm and knows quite a bit about geology!
Is not bound by the laws of physics whatsoever. Really. She pulls canons out of thin air, tap dances atop the fourth wall, and can even grow limbs at random to illustrate a point. I don't even know.
First Person: [Evening. The train station. The watch is pointed at the informational posters from ground level. At first it might look like someone has dropped their watch but then the owner steps into view: a bright pink pony with a wild mane standing easily on her hind legs, forehooves drawn up to her chest. She sucks in a deep breath. And then she starts to sing.]I'VE JUST ARRIVED HERE IN RUBY CITY
AND THEN I WROTE THIS LITTLE DITTY
TO SAY HELL-O AND ASK IF YOU KNOW
IF THERE'S A WELCOME COMITY!
I FOUND THIS POSTER PLAIN AS DAY
IT SAYS THAT I'M IN FOR A STAY
SO ANSWER FAST AND DON'T DELAY
'CAUSE THAT WOULD BE A PITY!
[During the song, Pinkie hops and prances and gestures around until she lands in a seemingly impossible equine split with her hooves high over her head. She flashes the watch a broad grin before falling over and landing on it, shutting it off.]Third Person:"OoooOoo," Pinkie had found something she liked. The huge ruby pillar in the middle of the city was such a pretty color! She could see herself in it and as she trotted around its base and giggled at the way her reflection warped as it chased her. She ran around and around and around until she grew dizzy and stumbled away, still laughing.
Once her eyes stopped rolling, the pink pony found herself facing a long street that shot right down the center of town. Her ears stood tall as something caught her attention. Off she went, bouncing all the way, her hooves tapping loudly on the cobblestones. Soon the music shop revealed itself. She squashed her nose against the glass which fogged up instantly. Her eyes grew wide and shiny at the shapes of all the strange musical instruments inside.
"Ooooh, I'll bet they have maracas!" She stood up on her hind legs and patted her flanks. "Oh, ponyfeathers, and not a bit on me! Welp! I've gotta get shakin' if I wanna get shakin'! Pinkie Pie, ole gal, it's time to find us a job! You're soOOOoo right!"
And off she went with her goal in mind! Oh, if only Gummy were here! He'd have some ideas!
